Scientific research proves there is a direct correlation between music education and brain development in young people. Jazz Power Initiative uses that unique power of jazz music to foster social and emotional learning – as well as academic achievement – in youth from Upper Manhattan – Washington Heights, Harlem, and the Bronx.
What started as a grassroots organization has grown into the little powerhouse that has now reached almost 4,000 youth and prompted organizations like the National Endowment for the Arts, Miranda Family Fund, the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation and TD Bank Charitable Foundation to become active supporters.
We invite you to unite with our virtual community and join our Jazz and Talk Power Walk. On August 26th from 11am-1pm ET, tune in to the livestream from our Inwood studio and walk from anywhere in the world where you happen to be. You will receive the streaming link the week of the walk.
