2024 NYC Comptroller Commendation
Awarded by NYC Comptroller Brad Lander for Jazz Power Initiative’s unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of young New Yorkers by fostering artistic expression, nurturing talent, and promoting cultural enrichment; for uplifting the lives of countless individuals through the power of Jazz music; for offering unique youth education programs, immersing students in jazz music and culture through multidisciplinary voice, theatre, movement, and piano musicianship for young adults in Washington Heights, Inwood, Harlem, and the Bronx; for helping develop professional artists and educators in top level artistry combined with community advocacy rooted in the African American and Latin American cultures of our City of New York; and for JPI’s invaluable contributions as a beacon of creativity, joy, and empowerment in our communities.

2024 Manhattan Borough President Proclamation
Awarded by Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine,  May 15th, 2024 was proclaimed Jazz Power Initiative Appreciation Day in honor of JPI’s commitment to improving the city and enriching the community through 20 years of jazz arts education and performance.

2024 AATS Award from the American Academy of Teachers of Singing
Awarded to JPI’s Managing and Artistic Director Dr. Eli Yamin by the American Academy of Teachers of Singing in recognition of his leadership and excellence in youth jazz education. The AATS Awards were created to recognize, honor and nurture outstanding accomplishments in the teaching of singing and in allied professions.

2024 NoMAA Arts Stroll Honoree
Awarded by Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance for JPI’s contributions to the arts uptown and more vibrant and inclusive community for all.

2024 Hintersteiner Award from NYP Medical Center Neighborhood Fund
Awarded by Columbia University, New York Presbyterian and the Medical Center Neighborhood Fund, The Joseph Hintersteiner Award, named after the esteemed community member and arts enthusiast, Mr. Joseph Hintersteiner, recognizes his dedication to our local area through his involvement with Community Board 12 and various organizations such as the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood. This accolade is presented to organizations that nurtures and supports artists of all ages within Washington Heights and Inwood communities.

2023 New York State Empire Award
Awarded by Senator Robert Jackson in recognition of outstanding contributions and dedication to the growth, prosperity and betterment of their community and New York State.

2017 Johnny Pacheco Latin Music and Jazz Festival at Lehman College
