We are so proud of our youth!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our showcase of NORA’S ARK– our Jazz Power musical about climate change. Thank you to our families for taking this journey with us. It has been an incredible 12 weeks of singing, acting, dancing, piano and fellowship.

Students ranged from ages 9 to 19. Some of them have had a good amount of stage experience while for others, it was their first introduction to the performing arts. All of them felt the power of the blues. They immersed themselves in the culture of Jazz and became real storytellers. The road was not easy. They were given the task of singing while dancing while informing the audience about climate change.

We would like to give a special shout out to our wonderful band: Mark McGowan (trumpet), Chris Byars (saxophone and flute), Jennifer Vincent (Bass) and Dave Gibson (drums).

Thank you to my fellow JPI Team Eli Yamin, Janny Gonzalez, Mickey Davidson, and Johnathan Hernandez.

A very special thank you to our sponsors Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, New York City Council of the Arts, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the Miranda Fund, MVRP Foundation, Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, and the Michael Rosenfeld Gallery.

Last but not least, a special thank you to our schools/organizations who have also supported our efforts; The United Palace, Dance Project of Washington Heights, HEAF, People’s Theater Project, Eagle Academy for Young Men (Brooklyn), CPE2, PS/MS 278, KIPP Washington Heights Middle School, PS/IS 18, WHEELS Academy, Hamilton Heights, The Equity Project Charter School, TAG, PS/IS 187 and City College.
